Rollercoaster from Major Maker. They made 1/4 of the song for a candy commercial and found they had a hit.
What I like about this cheesey cheap video is that it really reminds me of Martha and the Muffins: a band on the rise, unabashedly in love with Toronto.
Bet you thought I was going to post Echo Beach, eh?

Rollercoaster? Nope, it was used for a Maynard’s candy commercial that totally riffed on (ripped off?) a Kylie Minogue video (come into my world).
Wasn’t this song used by Zellers or The Bay?
Nevermind. I was getting the Kingbees and the Kings mixed together. They were both charting at the same time.
I guess you could say it was “My Mistake!”
Must have been one of those Yaz/Yazoo things. We knew them as the Kingbees on the north side of the Detroit River. Here’s the combined first 2 albums on a single CD cover:

kingbees? they were just ‘the kings’ and are still at it.
danseparc makes more sense for you to play, DR.
Or… Dare I mention “The Tornadoes” from 1983?
What the fuck happened to the glory days of The Kingbees with “Switchin’ to Glide” and “My Beat Goes On?”
I haven’t been so impressed by Canadian music performed on a boat since “My Heart Will Go On”. (Shame about Mary Ann’s five-o’clock shadow tho…)

“…unabashedly in love with Toronto.”
The original Red Rocket, young dudes in makeup and Sandy Horne, there’s a little bit of everything for everyone in this…
I love that tune, it’s so happy!
It reminds of of The Whistel Song that was similar in happiness…
Plus that whistler is sort of hot… even with the pedal pushers
