Bear, party of 8, headed to Miami, Florida, Dec 02 for one night.
Can anyone suggest a good hotel around US$70-US$100/night? Sharkboy and I have worked ourselves up into a tizzy googling hotels and their online customer reviews, most of which have the words “Bed bugs”, “hooker”, and “disgusting”.
We stayed at the Best Western last year and it was ok – not great for $120US. The room wasn’t ready when we arrived 2pm, staff seemed put off that I asked to cash a traveller’s cheque and generally regarded us with dead eyes. The hotel was clean(ish) and was fine for one night but I think we could do better.
Suggestions? Comments?

Andrew, you are a douchebag.
it’s always amusing to see people from the u.s. defend their nation’s ‘honour’, like the parents of serial killer crackwhores fending off criticism of their darling little children’s behaviour.
Scott, you re-affirmed my faith in Amercia. Thank you.

You get the drift….
All this over 1 night’s hotel stay?
Sheeesh!
…terrorist association of thugs…lol. Grand generalizations full of holes. The US is in an unfortunate situation of being the worlds largest and most organized military with unfortunately bad leadership. This is about to change-the leadership. As for queer hating…I do not see it that way…so, there is no marriage…big deal…does not bother me. Every job I had in the US in my conservative and bible belt state of NC offered-offers same sex partner insurance coverage, joint property ownership and uncontested wills without the benefits of marriage. There are a tick under 300 million people in the US. Rough estimates are between 15 and 30 million gay folks. There are 32+million folks in Canada, less than the population of California. Change can be affected much easier and quicker in a smaller populus, so change in a country with 9 times more people will take more time and requires a more organized effort. Massachusetts (6+ million people) have made changes. California (36+ millions folks) are about to make changes. Large cities in every state are making changes, even in Texas-the base of this bad leadership…Dallas and San Antonio companies have same sex partner benefits. Lighten up on the anti-US rhetoric. Not whining, not complaining and not faulting you for your opinion…but, grand generalizations are full of holes. I for one love and enjoy both countries and will continue to spend my money in both.
I wonder… Name me one country we could go to that doesn’t have a history of queer-hatin’ fundamentalism with a perchant for terrorism (ooooo Denmark! how exotic!).
Its only one night people!
Andrew it sounds like we’re all just doing our “best,” and sometimes taking a fabulous bear-filled cruise requires compromise. I once was quite “proud” of myself for not letting someone who vehemently supported the death penalty Fack me in P-town, but I’m not ready to give-up P-town itself, per se.
read the comment again, you dingbat yanks. your country hates queers and is, fundamentally, a terrorist association of thugs. if you can’t deal with that, do something about it. my advice was to not economically support a nation that i find ethically reprehensible, and i stand by my words, no matter how much you whine.
oh my.
TOO FUNNY Butchie, as I too am American and celebrate three years of living in the GTA on October 30. It would appear that the ‘supposed’ open mindedness and all embracing goodwill of Canadians is reticent in a few folks where americans are concerned, lol. I too dislike Bush and his policies, but I love my home-familoy-base of North Carolina and the southern way of life, albeit daily changing due to extensive immigration of northern folk southward aka (jokingly) damn yankees or half-backs(those that moved to Florida and then moved half way back. As for Bush and his warmongers, I cast my ballot while home and have done my part in attempting to change congress to remove the footing under him…lets hope Canada kicks Bush Lite out of office early next year…
as for the hotels…I am finding that Miami Beach area is 1/2 the price of South Beach….
Hotwire, yahoo travel and hotels.ca are finding the same places and are all within 5 bucks of one another……
I think I am going to close my eyes and pick one.
Butchie, andrew is our resident mysenthrope. He hates Americans if he doesn’t know them. Kiss and say hello.
To SU-V: We’re going on a cruise with Royal Caribbean, a NORWEGIAN company that employs a ton of BRITISH and ex-BRITISH COLONY residents. To ensure we make docking time safely without any delays at the airport (thank you TSA) we’re showing up in Miami a day early. I plan to become Tony Vincetti for 24 hours and steal cars and run missions.
Oh yeah, why are you going to Miami? There are cooler places.
suggestion: Hey Andrew, go fuck yourself. I’m American and I don’t hate queers. Do you drive a dogsled to work? Do you live in an igloo?
Dumbfuck.
well, buzzkills, if there was a cruise leaving out of Ontario Lake, I’d probably take it, it would be my first choice.. but not the case… still need to find a place for that one night before leaving…
I’m with andrew on this one.
Griz and I are arriving Sunday morning. Cheaper (much much cheaper) flights for us and no hotel hassle.
A friend of mine gave me a list but they all seem to be over $200.00 and nobody wants us to arrive on a Sat or stay just one night.
OH WOA is me.
suggestion: don’t waste your travel dollars going to terrorist nations that hate queers.
