Sustiva Dream #4 |
|
Its four days into it.
I am hypersensitive to reactions to the drug, like I'm saying "Bring it on! Do your worst!" but the most I am getting is dizzy room spins. Nothing like they told me. Sleeping has become a bit of a chore, it's not coming easy.
I wake at 4am. There are voices in my room. Loud and insistant. I ache. I turn over on my back.
"Yes! Sleeping on your back is better for your breathing!"
She's about 4 feet tall. She's Phillipino. She has a kerchief on. I instantly know that she works in a sweatshop somewhere on the other side of the world. She's a foot away from the side of my bed.
I turn away, in fear.
"Get off your arm! You will be sore when you wake up!"
I roll over to my stomach and in doing so I notice that there is another sweat shop coworker with her. Taller, thinner, shoulders drooped forward. Sad eyes.
"You must try to sleep! Rest is good!"
Why the fuck are there Phillipino sweatshop workers at the foot of my bed?!
When I finally get to sleep there is a total of 5 workers all chattering sleeping advice, their voices receeding.
