How many of you actually watched the Oscars and how many of you Tweeted the Oscars? Raise your bloody stumps of hands with ex-fingers on the ends of them.
I thought so.
In all seriousness I found the Twitter comments much more engaging than the show, but I doubt I could have hit refresh, taken in the comments and watched the show at the same time.
Of the 60 some odd Twerps I follow (how can some of you follow 100? 300? A thousand?!) I would say that 90% of you were busy commenting on people’s outfits, eye rolling caught on camera’s cutaways or just basic tomfoolery (or lack there of). Best comment I read summed up the entire evening: From James Urbaniak: “Tyler Perry’s Tyler Perry!”
CB’s comment regarding the oddest dance sequence I’ve ever seen on an Oscar’s broadcast was spot on: “Where the fuck is Debbie Allen when you need her?”
But addinfulleffect summed up my feelings towards last night show: “These may be the worst oscars since the letterman uma oprah debaucle”
So underwhelmed. And was expecting so much more from Steve Martin/Alec Baldwin. Now, if you excuse me I’m going to light a candle for Bea Aurthur and Farrah Fawcett Majors.

i am stunned at the honour of being mentioned on your blog! I’d like to thank every single person in my life who allowed me to become the person i am. and i’m going to do it alphabetically.
don’t you start that music!
🙂
I don’t know anyone over here who watched them or was interested….! Hunh. (Hollywood patting their own backs…) Maybe I’m missing the point.
OMG! I got 6 free passes for our “inconvenience” of near immolation (eek!). Sweet!
We’re using three of them to go see Alice in Wonderland this Saturday, but you guys should totally come out to use the other three passes with us.
Same. Makes me want to shake the teenage staff when I see the mess. I could be a British Nanny if I wanted to be.
Yeah, Beaches cinema could definitely be cleaner, especially when considering the size of it compared to the ones downtown. The seats are still comfortable though, and I prefer the smaller theatres, myself.
I was going to blog about how crappy The Beaches Cinema has become in such a short time. I was shocked how dirty it was on a Friday night and (this may be my Grand Torino showing) how *young* the staff were, which in my mind doesn’t equate with quality service or security. Not surprised about the fire, really.
Cb: Nice. All hype and now forgotten?
On a terrible scale of 1 to 10, I rate these Oscars as “Hatian Earthquake”.
Yeah, this was the first year that I actually refused to watch. Engaged in RuPaul’s Drag Race and ST: Voyager while knitting instead. Was a great night. 🙂
BTW, The Beaches Cinema nearly burned down Saturday night. We went to see Alice in Wonderland and the popcorn machine started spittin’ out flames and smoke. Firetrucks, policecars and CP24…dramatic! Needless to say, the movie showing was cancelled. Just thought it was funny since we’d all been there the night before to see The Crazies.
I was on my computer with the TV on in the background, basically I could have listened to the Oscars on the radio. The Academy Awards just don’t do it for me anymore, not interesting, and I guess whatever fascination I had with it when I was a kid is gone.
It was made boring by the fact that there are way too many other award shows prior to this one celebrating the exact same thing. No surprises equals boring.
