Why do I feel like people expected this new gadget to fucking cook them dinner, get the dry cleaning, feed the cats, shovel the driveway, fly them to Disney World, make babies or rebuild Port-au-Prince (too soon?)…

Exactly… I want a cross-over eBook reader and this would be perfect ‘tween gadget. Me wanty but not enough to risk being an early adopter.
The press coverage of it weird and excessive.. overhyped. Since it couldn’t actually, I dunno, be $250 and pew pew evil doers, people were underwhelmed. And factor the anti-Apple zealots for bonus rage.
Having said that, the iPad is exactly the gadget I was hoping for (a bigger ipod touch, crazy battery life). I’m not crazy enough to buy the 1st gen version, but I will certainly buy one eventually.
