Yes a storm did rip through GTA and a tornado watch was issued for downtown Toronto, but that doesn’t mean you can drag this out over your entire newscast. Some light poles came down and some shingles flew away. Boo hoo. Oh look here’s a crappy hand held phone video of someone swearing *bleeeep* over a lightning strike! News, people!
Oh and a light post fell over. Not sure how. Probably from the force of hype.
Ann Rohmer over on CP24 is about to explode with all the superlatives she’s been vomiting out of her head. Frank Ferragine has got his serious face on and is concerned for the rest of the day. CTV morning crew are sitting on their couch with subdued hushed tones. The Ceeb is talking to someone in London. England.

Did they also have a cutesy nickname for the event (Torontonado?) and an animated bumper graphic in a garish combination of typefaces? Wouldn’t be complete media coverage without it.

Oh! Hold me! I have the vapors!!!!
OH MY GOD! Are you okay? Do you need anything? How are you getting by in your dark, dark hour? Did George Hamilton make it through; I just simply won’t sleep until I find out if George Hamilton is safe and sound! And what about little Billy Dee Williams God, I’d just die if he had anything more than a scratch on him.
Apologies, I wrote this in anger at 7am after being bombarded by the news. I didn’t mean to belittle anyone’s misfortune, suffered by this global warmed weather.
My rant was suppose to be directed towards the media and their sensationalistic vomiting of disaster porn.
Hmmm…as someone who was smack dab in the middle of a power outage zone from about 7pm until 11:55pm last night…it was somewhat interesting for me to see that a lot of people got it a lot worse. But yes, the news coverage was slightly overblown and repetitive, but I think that also speaks to the fact that news outlets like CP24 and CityTV don’t expect you to watch the show for more than 5 minutes at a stretch.
