This weekend, Sharkboy and I paid for our flight and hotel to Orlando. After nearly 40 years of fidgeting, I am finally going to Disney World!!! OHMYGOD PONIES!!!
We’re going for 7 full days, 8 nights next May and weirdly enough, we’ll be there for Gay Days and at least one Bear party at some chlorine enhanced water park. Time to dig out a red shirt!
We’ll be staying at The Pop Century Hotel (budget – ew) where everything is decorated huge. We’ve gone and got the Birnbaum’s Walt Disney World and Birnbaum’s Walt Disney World Without Kids books and have been creating strategies and park maneuvers to maximize the fun.
I am going to pee myself. 39 days and counting!
Also, if you do any travel agent bookings, I recommend Jake at Flight Centre, lower level at the Eaton Centre. As well as being efficient, fast and informative, he’s cubby cute. When he advised that the room we were booking would have two double beds I said “Yeah, one is for bouncing on!” he laughed. So he’s okay in my books.

On a completely unrelated note, the next Batman movie is filming right across the street from where I work. I’m gonna go steal me a Batmobile!
Thanks FW.
I should mention that I’ve actually been to Epcot back in the late 80s. It was the worst 4 hours of my life ever.
Well… not “ever”. But it was pretty bad.
I was so excited about going and on the day of the trip to the park (we only had one day to go), we had car problems just as we parked the piece of crap car we had rented. It wasn’t a big name rental company so we had to wait in the parking lot for 3-4 hours while people streamed passed us.
By the time we straightened that out, we stupidly went on Spaceship Earth which broke down (surprise!) and we sat on that for almost an hour (after the near hour line up). So by now, it’s late afternoon. We walked around the lake, and managed to miss the Canadian pavilion.
We had to get the car back by 6 so the day was pretty much shot from there on in. On the way home, I ran over a possum and it flew up into the engine, clogging something. Rental car #2 died on us on the way back home.
I’m hoping this trip will be better.
Congrats you will love it and regress to 8 years old upon entrance-maybe 6, been three trips to Disney and still have one day left on my 5-day worldhopper pass(good for all parks on one day–which is a must when you find one park TOO CROWDED)..My favs…MGM-Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and the Rock and Roll Rollercoaster, EPCOT, the whole park is great, best food…MOROCCO! DAMN GOOD FOOD, Animal Kingdom…alas, have not seen it all, always so CROWDED. Magic Kingdom…hit and miss getting out of date, although something that I would not wish on anyone…I got STUCK in the “It’s a small world” ride for 35 minutes in the same spot. I was going postal if I heard that song one more time. 35 continuous minutes of shrill children singing its a small small world. Cubby and I (Jakal as you call us together) are going for the Canadian Thanksgiving week in October. Disney, both Universals and BG in Tampa. YOU WILL LOVE IT! Hope to see you guys SOON
